Babyweights, bonding and some exercise too

Getting exercise as a mum is something that some women seem to do really well, and others like me are rather sporadic in their dedication. It is only now that I am starting to get a regular walk in before the day begins that I am almost able to call it a bit of a lifestyle rather than Monday morning enthusiasm after a big weekend that falls flat by Tuesday.  This has been a great way to keep me energized and clear my head to meet the challenges of the day ahead. And lets face it, getting out with a newborn or a younger baby is a little more difficult when there is more than one child to manage in the pram.

Recently I met a gorgeous mum who had a fabulous idea to help mums get some exercise but more importantly do it in a way that helps build on that beautiful bonding time that we are afforded in that short time before they are up running around chasing after their siblings.

Now I so wish I had these cards earlier as Mr 1 is now on the slightly heavy side for some of these exercises, but I still had so much fun playing around with him that I actually forgot I was exercising as well.

So basically these are exercise cards that aim at giving you a range of low impact exercises to work on different parts of the body, with the help of your baby to act both as a weight and a distraction. There are clear pictures and more detailed explanations on the back of each card.

These would make a great pressie for someone having a new bub!

I have a box to give away (valued at $29.95), so leave a comment about how you manage or don’t manage to exercise with young kids?

To be in the running go over and like my facebook page and the Facebook page of baby weights via these links. The Modern Parent and Babyweights

Competition is open to Australian residents only and closes Wednesday 27th September 5pm aest.

I do a fair bit of walking carrying 14mo on my back and pushing toddler in the buggy – it’s hard work going up hills but it’s a convenient time to fit some exercise in!

What a fabulous giveaway!!! I didn’t think I could manage with kids (going to the gym) so instead we go for long walks up and down hills… exploring our neighbourhood! Trying to get my 10000 steps a day!

    Popping over from FYBF 🙂

This is a great giveaway! We bought the city jogger so that I could go and get my exercise in with the boys. Then it got waaaay too heavy and tough for me – especially with twins.
Now, it’s hitting the gym before they wake up. Yup, that means the crack of dawn!

What a genius. I thankfully stumbled upon Link Fitness PT who train mums while providing care for bubs at the other end of the park. It gave me some social time with my mums group, who joined me, helped us keep fit, and gave our babies new friends!

I throw them in the pram and we walk! We also play in the trampoline which is great fun!

I don’t really manage at the moment! I like to exercise at home, but find it difficult with the kids either climbing all over me, or up to no good while I do it!! The best we manage is a walk in the pram – and chasing after the toddler certainly leaves me puffing!! These cards sound wonderful – and the babies look like they are enjoying it too 🙂

I usually go to the gym for some exercise however I have just had a baby so won’t be going there for awhile. We will be going for walks in the park, doing some tricep dips/push ups on park benches, walking lunges, squats and just using my body weight. Baby weights looks like a great idea, I would love to get my baby involved during exercises with me and just enjoy being together.

I am struggling to shift my baby weight. I do go to the gym but find it hard to get back into running. What a cute idea BabyWeights is.

I know this is any older post, but I’m flicking through your blog after coming here from #fybf 🙂
I definitely want to try to be more purposeful in my fitness now that my second has been born earlier in the week (though I’m not rushing into anything just yet!!!). With my first I really was just so overwhelmed and sore and sad that I didn’t really have any motivation. This time I am keen to keep fit, and this sounds like a perfect way. I’ll definitely be checking them out. 🙂
